Professor S. Mostafa Rasoolimanesh
S. Mostafa Rasoolimanesh is a Vice-Chancellor Professorial Research Fellow and Professor of Sustainable Tourism at the School of Business and Law, Edith Cowan University, Australia. His research interest areas contain sustainable tourism, heritage tourism, community development, and urban sustainability. Moreover, he has worked on various research methodologies and analysis techniques and published several methodology articles and books. He has published more than 150 articles, books and book chapters including publications in A*/A journals.
In 2022, 2023 and 2024, Mostafa has been listed as the top 2% scientists in the world using Scopus Database for the “Sport, Leisure & Tourism” category. He serves in editorial board of more than 20 reputed tourism and hospitality journals in different capacities such as Associate Editor, Regional Editor, and Editorial Board Member.

Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is a set-theoretic and asymmetric analysis technique, which was initially developed during the 1980s to analyse the complex social and political conditions with small number of cases. However, applications of fsQCA are not limited to small sample size, but extend to large datasets in different disciplines. In an asymmetric approach like fsQCA, the aim is to explore how various combinations of independent variables generate specific levels of outcome(s), for different groups of cases. These combinations of predictors can be categorized as sufficient or necessary conditions based on number and ratio of supported cases.
In this workshop, the basic definition and component of fsQCA, necessary steps to perform this asymmetric analysis techniques and combination of this techniques with partial least squares – structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) as a symmetric approach will be explained.
